Morocco Competition 2023: Fostering Supply Chain Talent

Developing supply chain talent in the 2022 Morocco Supply Chain contest

Fostering supply chain talent is critical to the success of any country or company. SCM Globe is partnering with the ENSA network (École Nationale des Sciences Appliquées – National School of Applied Sciences) in Morocco to organize the fourth edition of this SCM Globe Morocco Competition. The ENSA network comprises 13 schools, each located in a different city in the kingdom.

Companies are constantly seeking ways to improve their supply chain processes and performances to gain a competitive advantage. To do this, they need skilled supply chain professionals who understand the complexities of supply chain management and can develop innovative solutions to address the challenges of today and tomorrow. The competition is not just a fun game, but also an excellent opportunity for students to gain real experience in the field. Participants will face real business situations that call for them to make strategic and timely decisions during the contest. They will need to make decisions in areas such as: production; transportation; inventory management; and customer service.

Hands-on Learning for Developing Supply Chain Talent

The competition will happen on 13 May 2023. Teams will participate from these schools: ENSA Kenitra, ENSA Safi, ENSA Agadir, ENSA Tétouan, ENSA Marrakech, and ENSA Oujda. There are 210 participants, all of whom got pre-paid 90-day accounts on SCM Globe so they could train and prepare for the contest, do their best during the contest, and keep improving after the contest.

During the competition, participants will form teams and tackle real-world supply chain management problems. Teams will use the SCM Globe application to model and simulate the contest supply chain and find solutions to the challenges that arise. The contest supply chain will be based on a real company supply chain set in Morocco and Europe. The contest will entail activities such as designing a strategic supply chain network, developing optimal Sales & Operation Plans (S&OP), minimizing logistics costs, reducing carbon footprint, and ensuring responsiveness to customer demand.

Teams will be evaluated on their ability to develop effective and efficient solutions to the challenges they encounter, and on their creativity in dealing with these challenges. A panel of supply chain professionals and professors will serve as judges, providing participants the opportunity to network with domain experts, and receive valuable feedback on their solutions and performance. This is how the next generation of supply chain talent establishes connections to start advancing in their careers.

Here is a message from the President of the Organizing Club CIELK from ENSA Kenitra, Mohamed Abdelbasset Rakni:

I am an engineering student in my 4th year in industrial engineering with a logistics option at ENSA Kenitra. I am also proud to serve as president of CIELK club (Club of Industrial Engineering and Logistics Kénitra) at my school.

Throughout the year, we have organized many beneficial activities for students: industry outings, competitions, and integration outings. Our intention this year is to organize a national-level competition in collaboration with SCM Globe. This competition will provide us with a valuable opportunity to gain real work experience and learn about the components of the supply chain. We thank SCM Globe for offering us this opportunity.

There will be six ENSA schools participating in the competition, and I am responsible for steering all the cells (sponsorship cell, trainers cell, and presidents cell) to ensure the smooth running of this edition. I will do my best to make this competition the best one yet!

Stay tuned for our next two blog posts. We’ll share participants’ experiences during the contest, and show the winning team and their best results as selected by the contest judges.
